Rod Gauvin
Senior Vice President for K-12, News, and Genealogy Publishing

Rod Gauvin is senior vice president of K-12, News, and Genealogy Publishing for ProQuest. He joined the company in March 2001. Gauvin is responsible for all microform publishing and ProQuest digital newspaper publishing. This includes the successful ProQuest Historical Newspapers program now comprising the complete electronic images from the first issue for The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Atlanta Constitution, The Boston Globe, The Hartford Courant, The New York Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, and The Chicago Defender.

Gauvin brings more than 30 years of experience in reference, professional, trade, and educational publishing. Prior to joining ProQuest, Gauvin worked for the Thomson Corporation for 10 years. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of South-Western educational Publishing, school textbook publisher and as managing director of Thomas Nelson & Sons in the United Kingdom.

Gauvin started his career with Thomson as an executive vice president of marketing and corporate development for Gale Research (now called Gale Cengage) in September 1989. During his tenure at Gale, he led the launch of several key electronic products for libraries and numerous corporate development initiatives.

He was also the architect of the Gale-sponsored Library of the Year program, an ongoing award program administered by Library Journal that recognizes quality and innovation in libraries. Gauvin has held a variety of sales, marketing and publishing positions with Addison Wesley, Prentice Hall, and W.H. Freeman.

He is a board member of FOLUSA (Friends of the Library U.S.A.); Former board member of Friends of the Grosse Pointe Public Library in Michigan; SIIA Education Board; and AAP School Board.

Gauvin received his BA degree in political science from Assumption College, in Worcester, Massachusetts.
