Since April 2006, Annie Callanan has served as President and CEO of R.R. Bowker, the world’s largest source for bibliographic information, as well as the official agency for assigning ISBNs in the United States. Prior to joining R.R. Bowker, Annie served as Executive Vice President of Advanstar Communications’ Life Sciences Group, a $115 million (300-person) healthcare publishing portfolio comprised of 26 clinical and industry journals including Medical Economics and Pharmaceutical Executive; 39 conferences; an $18 million continuing medical education business; and interactive/web services group. Prior to joining Advanstar, Ms. Callanan was Senior Vice President of a $300 million (500-person) business technology media portfolio at CMP Media. In that capacity, she was responsible for group operations on many of CMP’s most successful media brands, including Information Week, TechWeb.com, Network Computing and one of the most influential computing events in the country, PC EXPO. Prior to her SVP role, Ms. Callanan directed a $50 million publishing, trade show and electronic publishing division at Miller Freeman responsible for the marketing and distribution of information technology to corporate decision-makers in the education and financial services sectors.

Prior to her professional career in Media, Ms. Callanan spent two years as a combat paramedic in the Israeli Defense Forces. During her service, Ms. Callanan became the first female paramedic instructor appointed to lead a medic squad in combat. She was awarded special commendation for her service during Israel’s 1982 War in Lebanon. In 2003, Ms. Callanan was voted one of Long Island’s 50 Most Influential Women in Business; and in 2005, she was inducted into min’s Sales Executive Hall of Fame. Ms. Callanan holds a B.A. and B.F.A. in English and Art History from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an MBA in Finance from New York University.
