ProQuest Enhances Vast Periodical Archive and Releases New Collection
Divided line

ANN ARBOR, Mich., August 11, 2008 - ProQuest continues to develop its large-scale, archival periodical database solutions with the completion of Collection 6 and launch of Collection 7 of Periodicals Archive Online. Periodicals Archive Online offers unprecedented access to nearly two centuries of international, scholarly literature in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Now available, Collection 6 contains more than 1.5 million digitized pages of content. Upon completion, Collection 7 will contain full-run coverage for 75 titles including such noteworthy journals as Islamic Quarterly, Journal of Church and State, Journal of Comparative Family Studies, and Rural Sociology.

"These newly digitized collections add to the depth and breadth of this multidisciplinary resource, ensuring dependable access to essential research content in the arts, humanities, and social sciences," said Mary Sauer-Games, vice president of publishing for ProQuest's Chadwyck-Healey unit, publishers of the archive.  "They are a significant addition to the entire spectrum of ProQuest periodical databases, particularly British Periodicals and American Periodicals Series Online, because they provide electronic access to major historic journal runs that researchers need."

Periodicals Archive Online is sought after for its unique, comprehensive content.  With nearly two million articles on 13 million digital pages -- cover-to-cover contents of more than 500 titles -- it's both a virtual library and a permanent archive of retrospective journals for the humanities and social sciences.  Further, non-English language journals represent more than 20 percent of the content, providing broad international scope.  The robust platform and fast search engine provide powerful and easy searching across the vast content base.

Periodicals Archive Online is a living product, continually expanding with new collections that support scholarly research around the world.  For more information, visit www.proquest.com
