The changes to the interface enhance the search experience, improve its results and serve a broad array of users. For example, scholarly research is boosted by new options that allow browsing by subject and location in ProQuest Dissertations & Theses and ABI/INFORM Global databases. ProQuest’s "More like this" search feature is now easier to find and use. The feature will be displayed automatically at the bottom of the article page and will always be open. Additionally, a link to “More like this” will be added to the top of the full text article page to further promote it to patrons who want to fine-tune their searches. In ProQuest’s acclaimed Author Profiles, profiles that include dissertations will be hyperlinked to the best available format for that dissertation. Also, two new citation styles will be available: Harvard (similar to Chicago/Turabian) and Vancouver.
To enhance support for users outside of the United States, ProQuest added four new interface languages: Italian, Russian, Polish and Norwegian. Additionally, article translation languages will expand from two to 12. The new languages are:
- Spanish
- Portuguese
- French
- German
- Italian
- Russian
- Chinese-simplified
- Chinese-traditional
- Japanese
- Korean
- Turkish
ProQuest’s “My Research Summary” and the Marked List page have been combined into a single feature called My Research, making it more intuitive for the user. The tab at the top of every page has been updated to display a single “My Research” selection. New graphics in the Search Results page help users identify such options as e-mail, cite or export, making it easier for them to use and manage their research results.
