Frequently Asked Questions
Question
My download file is unreadable. What do I do?
Answer

Dissertation and thesis manuscripts are in PDF format. In order to view/open/print the file, you need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader, version 4.0 or higher installed on your system. If you do not have this program, you can download it for free at: http://www.adobe.com.

If you are trying to print the file and lines are appearing blank or unreadable, you may need to change a setting in Acrobat to accommodate this. Acrobat may require you to choose Print as Image to print properly.

To set this to print:

  1. Go to file and choose Print.
  2. In Acrobat 5, on the main print screen, check Print As Image.
If printing with Acrobat 6 or7, click Advanced and choose  Print As Image.
  3. Click print

If the Image in the actual PDF file is hard to read or the scan is poor, please report this issue to Customer Service at 1-800-521-3042 (734-761-4700 x7044 outside the U.S. and Canada) or email info@proquest.com
Please include the dissertation title, author, year, publication number, and the affected page numbers when you contact Customer Service.

Please note in many cases the pages are scanned as provided, and we may be unable to provide a better quality version than the one you have.
