IP filtering is different to the type of IP authentication that ProQuest and
Chadwyck-Healey products do, in that rather than customers being automatically
authenticated by their IP address, they still need to use their username and
password somehow - Either by typing them in or clicking on an embedded link. The
difference is that if they aren't within the prescribed IP range for that
account then they won't be able to use the product even if the username and
password are correct. This is used to provide extra security. For example, if
your username and password is leaked out to the world, if they are not actually
trying to use the product from within your institution they will not gain
access. If you have questions please contact Technical Support for assistance.
