Question
What is in the COUNTER Journal Report 3? What is in the Number of Successful Item Requests and Turnaways by Month, Journal and Page Type Optional:JR3 Report?
Answer

The usage report meets the requirements of the COUNTER Code of Practice Release 2.  It provides information on the number of successful item requests provided to users, as well as requests that are turned away due to simultaneous user limits.  The requests are listed by type of page viewed by the user, (e.g. citation, abstract, full text with graphics, PDF, and so on), and they are grouped according to journal.  It shows:

  • The total number of item types retrieved, broken down by page type, month, and journal.
  • The number of full text and full-text PDF turnaways.
  • The total number of item types retrieved, grouped by publisher.

The formatting of reports for the COUNTER standard is strictly defined by the COUNTER Code of Practice.  Therefore, the layout and format of COUNTER usage reports may be different than other usage reports provided by ProQuest.
